An attractive MPV Not all MPVs are blessed with the stylish looks of the Honda Odyssey, which has a rising shoulder line and a gently sloping roofline that finishes with a smart-looking spoiler. And while the car more than holds its own in the looks department, its practical qualities should not be overlooked. Thanks to a four-door body, getting in and out of the vehicle is never an issue. And because of a one-touch power-operated sliding rear door, access is even more straightforward, even for those travelling in the third row.
Wheel appeal All models ride on stylish alloys. For instance, entry-level VTi trims are fitted with lightweight, durable and super-efficient 17-inch wheels as standard. For even greater kerb appeal, you might want to consider upgrading to the VTi-L, which comes with attractive two-tone alloys.
Light up your life Whatever the weather throws at you, you’ll always be prepared with the Odyssey. The vehicle features LED daytime running lights, which not only look good, they also ensure you’re easily visible to other motorists. Front fog lamps are fitted as standard too, so when the weather’s inclement, you’ll still have the best possible view of the road ahead.
Smart features A number of practical fixtures are fitted as standard, including heated door mirrors that demist quickly and with a minimum of fuss. They’re electronically retractable too, which means they’re far less likely to be damaged by other vehicles or if you’re driving within a confined space.
A flexible friend In five-seat mode, the Odyssey provides plenty of room for full complement of adults. But if you have a couple of extra, younger travellers onboard, the vehicle’s third row of seats comes in handy, providing plenty of space for children. Another great thing about this MPV is its flexibility, which makes it easy to achieve the perfect passenger/cargo balance. With all seats in place, there’s 330 litres of luggage space, while with the third row of seats folded flat to the floor, capacity increases to 1,672 litres. Drop the middle row and cargo volume expands to an impressive 1,867 litres.
Sounds good Both Odyssey trim levels are equipped with a six-speaker sound system complete with CD player, AM/FM radio, AUX and USB ports and an HDMI slot. Bluetooth connectivity is a standard feature too, allowing audio streaming and hands-free mobile phone calls.
A touch of luxury Each Odyssey trim level comes with numerous eye-catching features, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel that offers a sure grip. The steering wheel is fitted with paddle too, making it even easier to shift through the gears.
A flexible third row Thanks to 40/20/40 split-folding third-row seats, you’ll be presented with plenty of solutions whenever you need to transport awkwardly sized cargo. And you’ll be able to do so while conveying at least one traveller in the rearmost row.
Safety assured The Honda Odyssey comes with ANCAP’s maximum five-star safety rating, which makes it ideal if you’re transporting travellers of all ages. The vehicle is fitted with numerous passive protective features, including multiple airbags and front seatbelt reminders. If you regularly need to ferry the kids about, be sure to upgrade to the VTi-L trim, which comes with ISOFIX child-seat anchorage on second-row seats.
Reverse with confidence The inclusion of a multi-angle camera makes reversing – even into the tightest of parking spaces – as easy as can be. Simply keep your eye on the car’s seven-inch touchscreen, and stay within the displayed guide marks and you’ll park perfectly every time.
Flash drive Thanks to Emergency Stop Signal, motorists behind you will automatically be alerted if ever you need to make a sudden stop. If maximum braking pressure is applied, the Odyssey’s rear lights will automatically begin to flash rapidly.
Hill-start with confidence Another extremely useful driver aid is Hill-start Assist, which prevents the Odyssey from rolling uncontrolled whenever you start the engine on an incline, allowing you to maintain your composure in every scenario.
